The Challenge

Building Voltera's version of an Atari Punk Console

The Solution

Utilizing the Voltera V-One, I was able to drill holes, dispense conductive ink, and dispense solder paste. I had to install 2 sizes of rivetes into the PCB to allow the circuit to be double-sided. I also placed the small components (LED, resistors, capacitors) into the solder paste. I had to solder the larger components (9V connector, trimpods, buzzer) into the large rivets by hand. When I plugged the circuit in for the first time, the LED burnt out and started smoking. Upon further investigation, I found that part of the conductive ink had chipped off the board, causing all the current to go through the LED. Since the LED was just a power indicator, I was able to remove it from the circuit and manually add more conductive ink to the circuit. After the repairs, I had a working Voltera Punk Console that could change the frequency of the electric pulses with the left trimpod and the width of the pulses with the right trimpod.
